Why You Should Use Subheadings

Subheadings are very effective and should be used in all of your writings to make it easier for your readers. These will bring your bounce rate down, especially if you have lengthy articles. This is simply because your readers will not be overwhelmed by the information presented on your webpage.

What Are Subheadings?

Subheadings are basically like a subtitle which presents a new idea to the reader. They are usually in a slightly larger text than the rest of the article. Sometimes they are only in bold text, but they are made to stand out from the rest of the text.

By using subtitles in your writings your readers will be able to see at a glance whether you have the information they are looking for. But if you have one lengthy article, they will have no way of knowing whether or not you have the information they are looking for, unless they read the whole article.

How To Use Subheadings

Your subheadings should tell your readers a mini story without having to read your content. Each time you present a new idea to your reader you should use a subheading to sum up what is to follow in the next few paragraphs.

The subheadings should give enough information so the reader knows what to expect in the article, but they should not provide too much information, as you want them to read the whole article. So the trick is to use them to provide an outline, but at the same time, they should strike a curiosity in your reader to make them read the whole article.

Why You Should Use Subheadings

Subheadings are not only beneficial to your readers, but you can also benefit as it will help you to stay focused on your writing. They will keep you from repeating the same information twice, as doing so may annoy your readers.

Plus they will help you to see at a glance whether you have covered every aspect of your topic, and answered all the questions which your readers may have.

Creating your subheadings does not have to be a lot of work, as you can simply use your outline of the article as your subheadings.

Using subheadings will also save you lot of time as you are writing, simply because you will be more focused. Plus you will also save your readers a lot of time, as they may not have time to read the whole article, and this will help them to pin-point exactly which paragraphs they should read.
