A Guide to Using Yahoo! Answers to Get Traffic to Your Site!
Yahoo! Answers is similar to forums. Yahoo! Answers is a site where people can ask any question they want and other participants can write in answers to those questions.
Yahoo! Answers works on a point system. You get so many points for answering questions, and it costs you points to ask questions. It costs more points to ask questions that to answer questions, so the system encourages question answering.
The great thing about Yahoo! Answers is that it allows you to show your expertise about certain subjects and also link back to your website.
Yahoo! Answers has been vacillating on sig files. They allowed them, and then they banned them. Now, as far as I can tell, they’re allowing them again.
You can always put your website in your profile. So, if someone’s particularly impressed with your answer they can get to your site that way.
That requires an extra click, however. I like to make the route from link to site as short as possible–preferably one click. But still this might be worth doing, especially in some niches.
Some people try to game Yahoo! Answers. They do it by opening several accounts and ask and answer questions back and forth. The goal is to create buzz about a topic in their niche. Of course, there’s got to be a link to their website somewhere to make this work.
I’m sure Yahoo! doesn’t want you to do this, and I think it’s probably unethical, but that’s your decision-not mine. This isn’t something I do.
I’m telling you about it to get your creative juices flowing.
The real mainstay of internet marketing has to be good content. If you’ve got good content, Google will eventually find you. I know an internet marketer who has a website that has nothing but reviews he wrote of popular internet products. He’s probably added about a page a week to that site over a two year period. The only way he monetizes it is through AdSense and selling affiliate products-(the stuff he recommends). He makes a couple thousand a year off of it!
That’s an example of good content winning out-albeit slowly.
If you want to get your site up and running with good traffic faster, you don’t have to resort to manipulation to do this. There are many above board techniques you can use.
Yahoo! Answers, used correctly, is a good way to create traffic and also inbound links, but it’s not going to be one of your main traffic sources.
If you’re ready to get some real traffic to your site, then you need to start learning some real power techniques. (Make sure you have good content first, though!)
